Madelyn Torres-Young
CLINICAL SOCIAL WORKER | THERAPIST, LCSW

Hello! I'm Madelyn and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of California. I specialize in supporting people who are navigating family estrangement and the complicated grief, guilt, and identity shifts that can come with it. As a
first-generation Latina, i'm especially mindful of the cultural expectations and family dynamics that can make estrangement uniquely painful. I aim to create a space where those feelings can be explored without judgment.

Professional Experience
I was born and raised in the Bay Area and am originally from San Francisco. I got my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of San Francisco and my Master’s Degree in Social Work from Boston University. During my time in the east coast my training was focused on immigration, trauma, and domestic violence.
I began my career in social work in 2019 and have since worked across a range of different settings in both Boston and San Francisco. My experience in the non-profit sector includes
immigration social work, medical social work, and intensive case management. During that time, I supported individuals and families navigating complex challenges such as the risk of deportation, substance use, homelessness, and serious illness.
These experiences have shaped the way I show up as a therapist and deepened my understanding of the many stressors that impact people’s lives and relationships. For the past three years, I’ve focused on my private practice, providing individualized care for people navigating complex family dynamics.

More About Me!
Outside of my work as a therapist, I love exploring both nature and the city. Whether it’s getting outside for a hike, discovering a new coffee spot, or gardening, those moments help me stay grounded and present. At home, I’m kept company by my husband and our two cats, Ninis and Pips, who bring endless comfort and joy into our lives. They’re a constant reminder of the importance of mindfulness, gratitude, and self-care.
